angela Yvette Cooke ("Cookie") was born on the Tuesday of the date Nixon was inaugurated as the 37th president of the U.S. and Jimi Hendrix played two shows with Eire Apparent at Hall 16, Wacken in Strasbourg, France. She learned that she loved creative writing in her seventh grade creative writing class and discovered her passion for poetry at the ripe age of 15-years-young. Cookie has a perpetual muse for writing and she calls it her life and her life, as she remembers it, began at age five.
During her primary and secondary educational journey, she earned such honors as outstanding student at Martin L. King, Jr. Elementary School, the student hall of fame at Miami Edison Middle School and salutatorian at Miami Northwestern Senior High School. Her quest for knowledge led her to a full-tuition scholarship at the University of Miami.
Cookie's long time motto has been, "The only failure is not trying," and she has had no problem trying anything. She enlisted in the Air Force Reserves immediately after she earned her bachelor of science in communication. She attended the University of Florida College of Law for two semesters when she thought she wanted to be an attorney. After convincing herself that she wanted to be a physical therapist, she successfully completed all of her science/pre-physical therapy requirements at Virginia Commonwealth University and was accepted into the Medical College of Virginia. She later attended the National Center for Paralegal Training and this time stuck around to earn her ABA-approved paralegal certificate (with honors). Today, in 2006, Cookie is still trying to figure out what she wants to try next.
Since her father's death, Cookie considers herself to be both a modern day nomad and a free agent for the following reasons: after her parents passed, she never really had a place to call home; she is single and childless; and she has no qualms with relocating. Her circumstances have created ideal situations for traveling. She's lived in Miami, Florida; Fayetteville, North Carolina; Coral Gables, Florida; South Miami, Florida; Atlanta, Georgia; Gainesville, Florida; Burlington, Vermont; and Richmond, Virginia.
Responses to an e-blast to friends, family and colleagues asking them to describe Cookie in one word were in her favor. Cookie has been described as appreciative, beautiful, breathtaking, complete, crazy, exceptional, exciting, honest, loving, motivated, positive, sexy, soft-spoken, and spiritual. However, Cookie describes herself as humble, patient, sensitive, steadfast, enigmatic, timeless, and resilient.
While Cookie plans to continue exploring the world and exposing her poetry, she awaits the day her life gives her the inspiration, insight, contents and substance to write and publish a best-selling novel or anthology.
