Forget About the Funeral

If you love me, tell me now.
Recite my eulogy.
If you honor the way I live my life,
then share your joy with me.

If I've done something to make you proud
will you please let me know?
If I've done something to hurt you
confront me now or let it go.

If you miss me or want to see me,
call, write or just come over
and if you desire to express your love …
do it while you're sober.

If you want to give me flowers - great.
I can utilize my senses.
If you want to express heart-felt words,
let's talk - don't put up fences.

If you want to spend more quality time
mark your calendar, it's a date.
If you want to celebrate the here and now,
know that tomorrow is much too late.

Please don't wait until my funeral
to pay your last respects.
Don't let a final, dormant cause
have an awakening effect.
